Explore historic schoolrooms and compare the objects, routines and expectations of school life with your own. This is a focused heritage visit in an old school complex, rather than a modern children’s play attraction. Allow time to notice the buildings as well as the classroom displays.

Before you go

Museum and café opening are different. The main visitor schedule is weekends, with additional Fridays in school holidays; confirm the date rather than relying on the café being open.

Tickets and booking: Buy an admission ticket on arrival or in advance. Check actual museum opening and group arrangements; the older contact page retains a 2025 Friday schedule that differs from the current visit page.
Access and getting around: The Gallery Classroom and Victorian Headmaster’s House have step-only access. Ask the museum which spaces suit your needs and dress warmly in colder months, as the historic buildings are difficult to heat.

Visiting with children: A craft activity is included in the current child admission offer, but a staged Victorian lesson is a separate arrangement requiring minimum numbers. Do not promise a lesson on every ordinary visit.
