Kirkcudbright town and harbour walk

Use a short town route to connect colourful streets, old buildings and the working harbour. It gives the artists’ town a setting beyond its indoor collections, with plenty of opportunities to pause without committing to a long coastal walk. Stay on public paths and leave room for working boats, vehicles and residents.

Choose a small circuit and a food stop. Public-street walking does not include entry to every gallery, house or castle along the way.

Tickets and booking: No admission charge for a public-street walk. Optional venues, food and parking are separate. Respect current harbour signs and private property; boat trips are not included or guaranteed.
Access and getting around: Expect pavements, crossings and some uneven or cobbled surfaces. Choose the route that suits your mobility and avoid assuming the marina pontoons or working quays are general visitor areas.

Visiting with children: A short spotting walk can work between indoor visits. Keep children close beside the water and near working vehicles, and choose a clear turnaround before they tire.
