Conyngham Hall grounds and tree trail

Use the public grounds for a less hurried green-space outing, following part of the local tree trail or stopping for a picnic. Mature trees and open parkland offer a different setting from the compact castle gardens. The hall is a working business centre, so the visit is to the grounds rather than a furnished historic house.

Before you go

Download the current tree-trail map and choose a section before setting off. A roughly one-kilometre route can be enough; there is no need to extend into a longer Nidd Gorge walk to make the visit worthwhile.

Tickets and booking: General access to the grounds is free; parking, food, sports and events are separate. There is no public tour of the hall. Saturday morning parkrun can make shared paths busy. Check current kiosk and toilet availability rather than assuming all facilities operate whenever the grounds are accessible.
Access and getting around: The local trail guide describes mostly tarmac paths that are uneven in places, with step-free access options at the hall and Henshaws. The direct car-park approach includes steps. Consult the current route map and check the appropriate entrance; other woodland paths have different surfaces.

Visiting with children: Try identifying a few contrasting trees rather than completing every numbered stop. Bring a picnic or check kiosk service. Outdoor games and activities have their own opening and payment arrangements, and the riverside needs close supervision.
