Tatton Park

Treat Tatton as the main outing rather than a quick extra after shopping. The estate offers different sorts of day: time in the gardens, a look through the mansion, a family farm visit or a parkland walk. Choose the part that interests you most and give it room, with lunch and the return journey included.

Before you go

The Knutsford gate is not the mansion entrance: the house and gardens are around two miles further into the estate. Check each attraction’s opening separately before making the walk.

Tickets and booking: Check separate attraction admission and vehicle parkland entry. Walking or cycling into the parkland is free; this does not give free admission to the mansion, gardens or farm. National Trust membership benefits differ between these parts of the estate.
Access and getting around: Consult Tatton’s current access information for the specific attraction. Distances across the estate are substantial and historic rooms, garden paths and farm surfaces differ. Discuss mobility equipment, upper-floor access and pushchairs with staff before choosing the route.

Visiting with children: Pick the farm or gardens as a main focus, with time to eat and play. Keep well back from the deer and supervise children near the meres. The farm is not an entirely indoor wet-weather attraction.
