Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve
Follow a suitable section of the reserve’s waymarked paths from New Lanark to appreciate the river, woodland and waterfall scenery. This is an outdoor walking visit with steps and changing conditions, not an easy extension of the museum’s accessible interiors. Choose a route and turnaround that leave time and energy for the return uphill.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust’s Falls of Clyde visitor centre has closed. The outdoor reserve remains open in daylight; this closure does not mean the separate New Lanark museum visitor attraction is closed.

- The outdoor reserve walk is free and does not require a New Lanark Experience ticket. Parking and travel are separate costs. Visit in daylight, read current reserve notices and do not rely on the closed wildlife visitor centre for shelter or facilities.
- Access and getting around
- The usual approach includes steps, slopes and uneven paths. Mud, frost and rain can make surfaces slippery. Stay on waymarked routes and behind barriers beside the gorge; do not assume a level or wheelchair-accessible route to every viewpoint.

- Choose this for children who can manage the route with close adult supervision. Keep away from gorge edges and fast water, wear suitable footwear and turn back early if conditions or energy change. Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
