LANARK GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A lochside walk, play and a relaxed picnic / LANARK

Lanark Loch

Choose Lanark Loch for a simpler outdoor outing closer to the town, with a perimeter walkway, birdlife and places to pause. Families can combine a modest walk with play, while other visitors may prefer a quiet look across the water. It is a different proposition from the gorge paths at the Falls of Clyde.

Before you go

Keep seasonal activities optional. A putting green, hire facility or refreshment listing is not a guarantee that it will operate on your chosen day.

The practical details

Where to find it
Hyndford Road, Lanark ML11 9BJ
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Public lochside walking and play do not require an attraction ticket. Bookable or seasonal activities, permits, food and parking arrangements should be checked separately rather than assumed included.
Access and getting around
The council says most areas are flat and may suit people with mobility needs. Conditions and individual routes still vary, so choose an appropriate section and check current facilities. Recent improvements to selected paths do not make every part of the site identical.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Use the toddler or junior play areas that suit the children and keep the walking manageable. Supervise closely beside the loch and around cycle activity. A picnic and a short route can be enough without adding another major attraction.

Make it part of your day

Allow 45 minutes–2 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
