LARGS GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Story-led Viking history / LARGS

Vikingar! Visitor Attraction

Join a guided heritage experience that connects Viking life with the events around Largs. A replica longhouse, storytelling and a film give the visit a structure rather than leaving you to read a room of panels. Choose an actual available tour and allow time for questions, especially if children are discovering this history for the first time.

Before you go

The heritage experience has its own seasonal tour timetable. The building also contains leisure facilities, but an open swimming pool or gym does not mean the Viking attraction is running.

The practical details

Where to find it
Greenock Road, Largs KA30 8QL
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Phone ahead to confirm an available tour because school bookings can affect public sessions. September–October currently lists daily tours; November and February are weekends only. December–January is closed to ordinary public heritage visits. Prices and future seasonal schedules should be checked directly.
Access and getting around
Ask about the guided route, seating and any mobility assistance before booking. The experience includes changing light levels, storytelling and a film; discuss sensory needs rather than assuming it suits every visitor in the same way.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Replica objects and storytelling can suit interested school-age children. Check suitability for younger children or anyone sensitive to dim lighting and theatrical effects. Swimming and other leisure activities require their own timetable and admission check.

Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 1–1.5 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
