Leeds City Museum

Start with the people and stories behind the city in the Leeds Story gallery, then change scale with the natural-history collections downstairs. This central museum rewards a selective visit and works particularly well when different members of a group want different subjects. Its Millennium Square location makes it easy to pair with the nearby art gallery.

Tickets and booking: Give What You Can admission means donations are invited, not a compulsory ticket price. The museum normally closes Mondays, except bank holidays; a separately open event hall does not mean all galleries are open. Check weekend opening and special events.
Access and getting around: There is a ramped main entrance and lift access to all floors. The approach from the station rises uphill. The Changing Places toilet hoist is currently out of order; confirm repair before travelling if essential. Ear defenders and torches can be borrowed.

Visiting with children: Toddler Town in Leeds Story is for under-fives, with hands-on displays and trails elsewhere. The sensory room is a booked occasional event, not a permanent drop-in facility. Plan a short selection and a rest before children tire.
