Roundhay Park

Lakes, broad lawns and formal planting give Roundhay a very different pace from central Leeds. Choose the upper gardens for a shorter outing or make a longer visit around a lake and a playground. This is a large, rolling park; you do not need a complete circuit to enjoy the space.

Before you go

Decide where you want to spend your time before choosing a bus stop or car park. Specialist gardens close earlier than many people expect; leave the lake walk optional rather than rushing downhill and back.

Tickets and booking: Public park entry is free. Parking, food, land-train rides and Tropical World are separate costs. Check event restrictions and current parking charges. The specialist gardens currently close at 3.30pm; seasonal daylight and conditions should shape your walk.
Access and getting around: The council describes wheelchair-accessible entrances and paths but notes inclines. That is not a guarantee that every long circuit suits every visitor. Scooters can be arranged through Tropical World; book ahead. Accessible toilets depend on facility opening.

Visiting with children: Choose one playground or garden area and leave time for a picnic. Keep children supervised beside lakes. The land train depends on operating dates and weather, so do not use it as your only way back up the park.
