Wildlife & nature / LEEDS
Tropical World
Move through planted indoor habitats with birds, reptiles, fish and other animals, changing from humid greenery to drier desert displays. The route is compact enough to combine with a small part of Roundhay Park. Choose it for a focused wildlife visit rather than expecting an outdoor safari or a full-day zoo.

Use the toilets before entering the animal route: facilities are by the shop and café, not inside the zoo section. Wear layers you can remove; heat, humidity, animal smells and noisy water are part of the experience.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Princes Avenue, Roundhay, Leeds LS8 2ER
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- Paid general admission; check the current ticket choice and seasonal hours. One eligible carer can enter free with the specified evidence and accompanying visitor, so review the policy before travel. Food is not allowed beyond admission; budget for a separate meal or picnic.
- Access and getting around
- A ramp and automatic entrance are described in the visual story. Inside are inclines, textured boards, curtains, low-light areas and occasionally wet paths. Discuss mobility or sensory needs in advance. Assistance dogs are not admitted under the venue’s animal-welfare policy; there is no Changing Places toilet.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- Under-threes enter free under current pricing. Children should not touch animals or tanks, and free-flying birds may surprise some visitors. Read the visual story together beforehand; a shorter park visit may suit anyone uncomfortable with heat or enclosed habitats.
