Leek architectural town walk

Look above the shopfronts to see another side of Leek. The council’s architectural trail gives the town’s buildings a story beyond their current use and helps you choose what to notice around the centre. Follow a short section, stop to look at stonework and rooflines, and allow time for a café rather than making every listed building a compulsory stop.

Before you go

Use the trail for exterior context, not as proof that every historic building is open or unchanged. The Nicholson’s visitor reopening and Brindley’s Mill’s seasonal opening need their own current checks.

Where to find it: Market Place, Stockwell Street and central Leek

Tickets and booking: Public-street browsing needs no ticket. Private interiors, museums and organised tours are separate. Current street notices and access restrictions take precedence over the older trail leaflet.
Access and getting around: The route uses town pavements, gradients and crossings. Choose a shorter central section where necessary and check current works; the architectural leaflet does not establish a step-free route.

Visiting with children: Pick a few contrasting shapes, signs or building materials for children to find. Keep the route short and combine it with park time instead of expecting sustained interest in a long list of historic facades.
