Leicester Guildhall
Step into the timber-framed Great Hall and the rooms where Leicester’s civic life unfolded. Medieval displays and the former police cells show different uses of the building, from public gatherings to crime and punishment. Its position beside the cathedral makes it a manageable extra stop without another journey across the city.
Ask which rooms are available before starting: weddings and performances can change access. The upstairs library involves stairs, so it should not be the reason for a visit if climbing them is difficult.

- General admission is free, with donations welcome. Concerts, tours and other events have separate arrangements. Check daily opening and private-hire restrictions. The courtyard creates a brief outdoor element even though most of the visit is under cover.
- Access and getting around
- The approach has cobbles and the courtyard has uneven stone paving. Main ground-floor rooms are reachable without steps, but the library is upstairs without wheelchair access. Door widths and darker cells may matter; read the venue’s access statement and ask about event layouts.
