Jewry Wall Museum

Explore Roman Leicester through mosaics, excavated objects and a multimedia recreation of life in the town. The bathhouse remains connect the indoor interpretation to an actual Roman site. This is the renewed, ticketed museum experience, so older descriptions of a free museum should not guide your budget.

Arrive before your timed slot: the opening audiovisual sequence runs in scheduled groups and late admission to another slot is not guaranteed. Keep the outdoor remains optional in poor weather.

Tickets and booking: Advance timed booking is recommended. The current September–October 2026 offer permits up to three children aged 15 and under free with a paying adult; later dates may differ. Bring any pass or concession evidence. Café and shop entry arrangements do not establish free admission to the exhibition.
Access and getting around: The operator describes wheelchair access within the building, with a lift between the exhibition levels. Accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility are provided. The introductory projection and later sound/video displays may be intense; ask about a suitable route and the outdoor remains.

Visiting with children: Tactile activities and Roman daily-life interpretation can support a focused family visit. Let children choose a theme such as food, clothing or baths instead of working through every display. Buggy storage and café highchairs are available; check child-ticket terms.
