A prehistoric stone settlement on the edge of town / LERWICK
Explore the surviving stone structures of a prehistoric settlement beside Clickimin Loch, around a mile south-west of the centre. Its low walls and rounded forms offer a different kind of history from the harbour’s later buildings. This is an outdoor archaeological site with opening hours, rather than an indoor museum or unrestricted climbing area.

Wear footwear that grips on stone, and check the seasonal gate times before walking out from the centre.
Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 45–60 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
