Hay’s Dock and the old town →
Connect island stories with the streets and waterfront that grew around the harbour.
Public lanes and waterfront buildings / LERWICK
Explore a manageable section of Commercial Street and the older lanes towards the waterfront lodberries, buildings historically connected with trade and the sea. Looking from public streets gives a sense of how closely the town grew around the shore. Some familiar television locations are private homes, so treat them as part of the streetscape rather than attractions with public entry.

Start from your actual arrival point and choose a short route; different ferry and cruise landings are not all in the same place.
Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 45–90 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
