Usher Gallery

Paintings, decorative art and a collector’s eye make the Usher a rewarding pause in Lincoln’s Cultural Quarter. Look beyond a single famous name to the relationship between pictures, objects and changing exhibitions. A short visit can work well if you choose a few pieces to discuss instead of trying to see every display.

Before you go

The Usher is open while the neighbouring Lincoln Museum is closed for redevelopment. The museum café is also closed: plan a separate food stop and do not promise the museum’s archaeology or play galleries.

Tickets and booking: General gallery admission is free; the current opening pattern is Thursday–Monday. Check exhibition changeovers and any event bookings. Do not rely on old museum opening or café panels.
Access and getting around: The council describes ramps, lifts and access to all galleries and public spaces. Ask about current lift availability and the best arrival route; streets around the Cultural Quarter have slopes.

Visiting with children: Make a short art-looking visit around the current displays. Family workshops are dated activities with their own ages, prices and booking rules; the closed museum’s play space is not part of this visit.
