Seasonal canal journeys / LINLITHGOW

Linlithgow Canal Centre boat trips

See another side of Linlithgow on a short boat trip from Manse Road Basin. The volunteer-run centre also has a canal museum and tearoom during its operating season. A longer booked cruise reaches the Avon Aqueduct, but it needs a different timetable from the short town trip.

Before you go

The ordinary 2026 weekend season ends on 27 September. Special winter sailings are separate events; a December programme does not mean regular town trips continue all winter.

The practical details

Where to find it
Manse Road Basin, Linlithgow EH49 6AJ
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Town trips are first come, first served during the published seasonal timetable. Longer cruises need separate advance arrangements. Confirm the departure window and fare; do not arrive near the last sailing expecting space.
Access and getting around
The museum, tearoom and toilets are wheelchair accessible, but the boats cannot accommodate wheelchairs and have steep boarding steps. Discuss limited mobility with the operator before travel; assistance cannot guarantee safe boarding.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
A short town trip is easier to fit around children’s attention than the approximately 2½-hour aqueduct cruise. Check boarding, supervision and any buggy arrangements before joining the queue.

Practical information checked 16 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow about 25 minutes aboard a town trip; allow 1–1½ hours at the centre for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
