Linlithgow Loch and the Peel
Enjoy the palace from the open parkland beside Linlithgow Loch, then choose a lakeside stretch or the full circuit. This is a walk and picnic setting in its own right, with changing views of the town and water, rather than a substitute ticket for the palace rooms.
Before you go
The full loch circuit is about 2.3 miles. A short out-and-back from the Peel is a better choice if you want views without committing to the whole loop.

- Ordinary outdoor access is free; palace admission, fishing permits and organised events are separate. Check signs for any event restrictions and use current public-toilet information.
- Access and getting around
- The loch circuit uses compacted gravel, while the Peel includes grass and sloping ground. Check recent conditions and any local diversions; benches do not make every section equally suitable for wheels.

- Keep children close at the water and leave wildlife undisturbed. A small picnic area or short path section can work better than a complete circuit with tired children.
