Tickets and booking: Book the paid visit for your date and check current restrictions. Winter closing is earlier, with last entry before closing time; seasonal holiday closures apply. The surrounding Peel is a separate outdoor visit.
Access and getting around: The entrance has a small stone threshold and uneven paving. The courtyard is on one level, but upper rooms and the Bower require steep, uneven spiral stairs. Ask about the available ground-level route; the nearest adapted public toilet is away from the palace.

Visiting with children: Choose a few rooms and a story to follow rather than making every staircase compulsory. Supervise children on uneven steps and exposed upper areas. The building is not an all-weather indoor attraction.
