Speke Hall

Give this Tudor house and its gardens a separate outing in south Liverpool. The half-timbered building offers a change from dockside architecture, while the estate gives the visit an outdoor component. Choose a house-opening day if the interiors are your priority, or make an intentional grounds visit instead.

Check the house calendar separately from the grounds: interiors are seasonal and do not open every day. If you are using public transport, allow for the walk beyond the bus stop as well as the ride.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary visits currently do not need advance booking. Check grounds-only versus house-and-grounds admission and membership eligibility. At the September 2026 check, the published house season runs Wednesday–Sunday until 1 November; verify your own date.
Access and getting around: The house has level ground-floor entry, but its first floor is reached by stairs. Garden paths vary and some gradients are steep; mobility scooters are not allowed inside the house. Ask ahead about loan equipment.

Visiting with children: Play areas and grounds can make this a substantial family outing without touring every room. Bring suitable outdoor clothing; toilets and baby changing are listed at Home Farm and the Dairy Courtyard.
