St Laurence’s Church
St Laurence’s rewards looking closely: stained glass, carved misericords and monuments connect Ludlow’s prosperity with the people who worshipped here. A quiet visit to the nave is worthwhile on its own. Those who want a more physical challenge can ask about the paid tower climb, where a spiral staircase leads to views across the town.
The church is free to visit, but the tower costs extra and has 201 steps. Children must be at least eight to climb.

- General entry is free with donations welcome; visits work around services and events. Ask the welcomers or shop about tower availability. Organised guided groups have separate booking and charges, rather than the ordinary individual free-entry arrangement.
- Access and getting around
- Use the south porch for easier access. The nave, shop, children’s area and coffee seating are step-free, with an accessible toilet. Chapels and chancel have steps with handrails; the tower is a long spiral-stair climb, not a step-free viewpoint.

- A children’s area allows a quieter pause in the main church. Keep tower plans separate: the minimum age is eight, and the climb needs stamina and care. The nave visit can still work for a mixed-age group that skips the tower.
