People’s History Museum

Follow struggles over voting, work and representation through the people and objects behind them. This is a museum for asking how change happens, with enough material for a thoughtful visit by the Irwell. Choose a period or campaign and give yourself room to discuss it.

The normal weekly closure is Tuesday. Pair a visit with nearby John Rylands only after checking both calendars; their visiting days are different.

Tickets and booking: General admission is free, with donations invited. Check individual workshops and group visits for booking requirements.
Access and getting around: The venue provides a separate access guide and a Quiet Room; ask the team if busy arrival areas are difficult. Confirm any essential assistance before travelling.

Visiting with children: The museum welcomes families. Political and social subjects may need adult explanation; use a few objects as conversation starters. A picnic area helps make a planned food break practical.
