Melton Country Park

Choose the country park when you want the green space to be the main part of the day. Lakes, open ground and a choice of paths give you more room to wander than the central town parks. Set a manageable route around your group’s energy, with time for a waterside pause or play rather than a target to cover the whole site.

Before you go

Choose an entrance for the part of the park you want to reach. The visitor centre and facilities are near Wymondham Way; reaching an edge of the park is not the same as reaching the café or play area.

Tickets and booking: General access is free and the council lists small free car parks. Check current signage and visitor-centre hours; toilets and café facilities do not remain open simply because the park does. Barbecues and fires are not permitted.
Access and getting around: Check the council’s entrance map and ask about the path surface and gradient on your chosen route. The park has multiple entrances and mixed outdoor terrain; do not assume every lakeside path suits every wheelchair or pushchair.

Visiting with children: The council lists several play areas, including the Climbing Forest near Wymondham Way. Select suitable equipment, supervise near water and build in a clear turnaround before children tire.
