The Trevithick Trail from Merthyr
Explore a chosen section of the route associated with the pioneering Penydarren locomotive journey. Starting in Merthyr lets you combine the industrial story with a manageable walk and a town food stop. Interpretation and surviving features are spread along the wider trail, so decide which section you want rather than expecting every landmark beside the start.
The advertised trail is about nine miles, not a nine-mile return loop. A short out-and-back is a different plan from completing it or returning by the Taff Trail.
