Give Mugdock its own unhurried outing rather than combining every local walk.
Woodland, a loch and castle scenery / NEAR MILNGAVIE
Choose Mugdock for a longer outdoor visit through woodland and historic parkland, with the castle and loch giving a clear focus to a route. The visitor-centre courtyard makes a useful starting point for a map, food and facilities. The park is near Milngavie, but the castle area lies across the council boundary in Stirling.

Pick a route from the visitor-centre map instead of trying to cover the whole park. Castle buildings and paid events are not automatically included in free grounds access.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 2–4 hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
