Loggerheads Country Park

Make the wooded Alyn valley your main outdoor outing, choosing a short riverside route or a longer walk that climbs towards the limestone scenery. The park offers a useful change from Mold’s streets, but different paths demand very different levels of effort. Start with a route that suits your group and add distance only if everyone wants it.

Before you go

Loggerheads is a separate journey from Mold and lies in Denbighshire. The current visitor page advertises temporary refreshments during development, so bring food or check provision rather than assuming the old café arrangement.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary park entry is free, with pay-and-display parking and seasonal closing times. Check current facilities and development notices, and book any Tramper loan in advance. Keep enough time for the separate return journey.
Access and getting around: The shorter riverside route uses compacted limestone and boardwalks with some unevenness and potential mud; higher woodland and cliff routes are a different challenge. A Tramper can be requested through the visitor centre. Check the route and any works before relying on access.

Visiting with children: Choose the short riverside route for a gentler outing, supervise near water and keep away from cliff edges. A picnic and one suitable loop can be enough; longer paths are not automatically pushchair-friendly.
