Castle ruins and a small military-history collection / MONMOUTH

Monmouth Castle and Regimental Museum

Combine the castle remains with the nearby volunteer-run museum when their opening arrangements align. The outdoor ruins offer a compact introduction to the town’s royal and military associations; the museum explores the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers and occupies part of the Great Castle House complex. It is a small, focused visit, not access to an entire furnished castle or military headquarters.

Before you go

The museum currently opens in the afternoons from April to October. The castle’s daylight access and the museum’s seasonal hours are separate; check both before making a special journey.
