Dundrum Castle

Climb to the castle site above Dundrum for a different perspective on the coast and its history. The ruins and elevated setting make a compact heritage outing, with the village below providing a separate place for a meal or break. Pick a day with good visibility and enough time to explore within the current opening arrangements.

Before you go

On ordinary Mondays the grounds remain accessible, but the keep, toilets and visitor information are closed. Check the current season before making a trip for those facilities.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary admission is free. The current May–September2026 staffed schedule is Tuesday–Sunday, with bank-holiday exceptions and an earlier last entry. Winter arrangements must be checked separately.
Access and getting around: The official listing warns of difficult wheelchair access on a sloping, rocky site. Uneven ground and exposed ruins require suitable footwear. Ask about the actual route if mobility is limited rather than assuming car parking removes the climb.

Visiting with children: Under-16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Keep children close around the ruins and uneven slopes; this is a historic site rather than a climbing playground.
