Laing Art Gallery
The Laing offers a smaller-scale art visit in the upper city centre, with paintings and decorative art that reward choosing a few works to look at closely. Start with the free collection displays, then decide whether a ticketed exhibition deserves more time. It pairs naturally with lunch and a walk through the central streets.
The gallery is closed on Sundays and bank holidays. Its play space is also scheduled to close on 30 September 2026; check before building a family visit around it.

- Free general entry needs no booking. Some temporary exhibitions charge admission; select the exhibition deliberately rather than assuming everything is included.
- Access and getting around
- Level entrance from the Blue Carpet; a lift connects gallery levels. The access page describes a small lift and a turn at the exit, so confirm suitability for your mobility aid. Staff can arrange alternative lift access to the Watercolour Gallery.
