Quayside and Gateshead Millennium Bridge
A short stretch of the Tyne gives the city room to breathe: look back towards the bridges, follow the Newcastle riverfront and, when open, cross the Millennium Bridge for another angle. Choose an out-and-back walk of a length that suits you. Baltic on the Gateshead bank provides a useful destination on its opening days.
Tyne Bridge restoration can affect views and nearby routes. Follow current signed diversions and do not plan around seeing a bridge tilt unless the operator confirms it.

- No admission ticket is needed for the public riverfront walk. Food, transport and organised activities cost extra; markets and events can change the usual atmosphere and route.
- Access and getting around
- The route from the upper city involves a descent and an uphill return; some shortcuts use steps. Use official arrival guidance for Baltic to plan a suitable approach and check works or bridge closures. This is not a surveyed step-free walking route.
