An island-history morning in Newport →
Use a Tuesday or Thursday public session, then keep the rest of the town visit flexible.
A short introduction to the island at the Guildhall / NEWPORT (ISLE OF WIGHT)
Use the Museum of Island History to put the island’s landscapes and human stories into context. It sits in Newport’s central Guildhall, making it a convenient small museum to visit before lunch or a look around the surrounding streets. Choose a morning when it is actually open and allow time to look closely at the displays.

For 2026 the advertised February-to-November public sessions are Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10am–1pm. A special free open day does not mean ordinary admission is free.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 45–75 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
