Caerleon Roman Baths

Walk above the excavated bathing complex and use the interpretation to imagine the scale and routines of Roman leisure. The surviving remains, sound and projected effects create a different experience from the museum’s object displays. You are visiting archaeology, not a modern bathing attraction.

Before you go

The covered baths are separate from the open-air amphitheatre and barracks. Keep any outdoor extension optional, particularly in heavy rain, and check toilets before entering.

Tickets and booking: Admission applies, separate from the free Roman Legion Museum. Cadw lists daily opening with last entry 30 minutes before closing and holiday exceptions. Book or check current prices and visitor notices.
Access and getting around: A mainly level slatted walkway includes a short slope; narrow wheels can make turning difficult. Lighting is subdued with sounds and projections. There are no toilets or baby-changing facilities inside the monument.

Visiting with children: Explain that there is no swimming. Films and lighting can help bring the remains to life, but children sensitive to sound or darkness may benefit from the access guide and a quieter visit.
