Choose a route through the reserve near Nash and give yourself time to pause at the viewing places. The appeal is in looking carefully and noticing what is present that day, not a guaranteed sighting of a particular bird. The visitor centre can help you choose a suitable walk before you head into the exposed wetland landscape.
The reserve is a separate journey from the city centre. Check the centre and car-park hours before planning a late visit; wildlife activity does not extend staffed facilities.

- General reserve entry is free; parking, food and organised activities are separate. Check current parking terms and closing notices. Dogs use a designated perimeter route; assistance dogs have wider access.
- Access and getting around
- Paths are mostly level compacted gravel and dust, with one zig-zag incline. Floating walkways need care because they move with buoyancy. Accessible viewing facilities are available; ask ahead about loan wheelchairs or scooters.

- Choose a short route with time for the visitor centre and a break. Keep children beside you on boardwalks and around deep water; sightings are a bonus, not a promised reward.
