Shoes, textiles and familiar local products make Norwich’s working history tangible. This smaller museum explains the city through the people who made and traded things, in a building that has itself served several different purposes. Choose it for local social history and close-looking displays rather than a repeat of the castle’s medieval palace experience.
Check the opening day before building your route around it. The undercroft is a separate consideration and has no wheelchair access; the principal galleries make a worthwhile visit on their own.

- Access and getting around
- A platform lift connects street level and reception; another lift serves museum levels. Large motorised scooters cannot be accommodated, and the undercroft is not wheelchair-accessible. Seating, accessible toilets and a reception hearing loop are provided.
