Oakham Castle and Great Hall
Go inside the Great Hall to understand what makes Oakham Castle unusual. The surviving hall and its ceremonial horseshoes reward a close look without needing a long castle circuit. Leave time for the grounds if you wish, but expect a distinctive historic building rather than towers, ramparts and a furnished royal palace.

- Current ordinary hall and grounds admission is free, with donations optional. Check opening and private-hire notices. Parking needs the operator’s current permit arrangements and can be unavailable on event days.
- Access and getting around
- The access guide describes level entry to the upper hall and a permanent ramp to the lower level, with accessible toilets. Cells have a step and the wider grounds slope; the whole site is not equally accessible.
