Oban War & Peace Museum

Begin with the fishing boats, railway and wartime aircrews that shaped Oban. This compact, volunteer-run museum gives the waterfront a human story and makes a useful first stop before looking across the bay. Choose a few subjects to follow rather than trying to read every display.

Visit before lunch on a Friday, when the museum closes earlier. Have refreshments elsewhere: there is no museum café.

Tickets and booking: The 2026 season began on 7 March. Published hours are daily 10am–4pm, except Friday closing at 2pm; confirm seasonal opening before travel. Entry is free, with donations welcome. Nearby parking is charged.
Access and getting around: Displays are on one level with wheelchair access. The on-site toilet is reserved for disabled visitors; other visitors should use public facilities, including those at North Pier. Contact the volunteers about any specific support needs.

Visiting with children: A children’s quiz gives younger visitors something to look for. Keep the visit short if the historical displays lose their interest, then make time outside or for a snack.
