Barnwell Country Park

Give Barnwell time for an easy nature outing close to Oundle. Choose a short marked trail around the lakes, pause to watch wildlife and leave room for play or a picnic. The different routes let you decide how much walking belongs in the day instead of treating the longest circuit as compulsory.

Before you go

Start with the shortest lake or nature trail if you are unsure about stamina. The longer riverside route has a greater mix of surfaces, and water edges need supervision.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary park access is free, but parking charges apply including for Blue Badge holders. Café and toilet hours are shorter than general access; fishing and events have their own arrangements. Fires and barbecues are not permitted.
Access and getting around: The council describes mainly compacted-stone trails with some uneven sections, accessible parking and a Changing Places toilet. Play areas use mixed surfaces; use the access guide for equipment and gate details.

Visiting with children: Combine appropriate play with the visitor centre’s nature activities when available. Keep children close beside lakes and river channels; bring a picnic or check café hours.
