Christ Church Meadow
Follow the meadow paths for views towards Christ Church and the rivers, with room to slow down after the busier streets. This is a free outdoor walk around a working landscape, separate from sightseeing admission to the college and cathedral.

Use the official meadow map and keep to permitted paths. Choose a short out-and-back if weather, daylight or energy is limited; the college buildings are a separate ticketed visit and are not included in this walk.
The practical details
- Where to find it
- Access from St Aldates via the Memorial Garden or from the Rose Lane side beside the Botanic Garden.
Directions and arrival information ↗ - Tickets and booking
- No general admission ticket is needed for the Meadow. It opens during daylight hours, with a Christmas Day closure; guided seasonal walks and college admission have separate arrangements.
- Access and getting around
- Check the current meadow information and contact Christ Church for a route suited to your needs. Outdoor surfaces and riverside conditions vary; this suggested walk is not a verified step-free itinerary.
Official access information ↗ - Visiting with children
- The free online meadow trail offers things to notice together. Supervise children beside the rivers and respect grazing areas and signs; a meadow walk is different from a playground visit.
Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Make it part of your day
Allow 45–90 minutes for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
