Margam Stones Museum

Look closely at the carved crosses and inscriptions in this small museum beside Margam Abbey church. It rewards a slower visit focused on a few details rather than a long circuit of exhibits. The building and collection offer a different experience from the nearby country park, with their own opening arrangements.

Ordinary opening is limited to selected days in April–September. Winter access is only for qualifying pre-arranged groups; do not assume it is an everyday rainy-day fallback.

Tickets and booking: Free entry. Cadw lists April–September Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays, 10am–3pm, last entry 30 minutes before closing. October–March is closed except groups of at least ten arranged with two weeks’ notice.
Access and getting around: There is a level approach from the nearby car park to the door, but the museum has two floors and no wheelchair access to the upper floor. No dedicated disabled parking bays are listed.

Visiting with children: Choose a few shapes or carved animals for children to spot. The small building and upstairs access may suit a brief visit better than a long indoor session.
