Porthcawl promenade and harbour
Follow a manageable section of the promenade towards the harbour for a first feel of Porthcawl. The Jennings Building and working waterfront give the walk a little history alongside the sea views, with plenty of reasons to pause rather than march from end to end. Keep the route flexible around weather and any regeneration works.
Before you go
Stay well back from exposed edges in rough conditions. The Town Beach is not a swimming beach, and a photograph of waves breaking over harbour structures is not an invitation to approach them.

- Walking public seafront routes is free. Parking, refreshments, events and purchases are separate. The Grand Pavilion is closed for redevelopment, and the former Coney Beach funfair is not an operating attraction.
- Access and getting around
- Choose a suitable surfaced promenade section and check current diversions, crossings and gradients. Access onto sand or harbour structures is separate; do not assume an uninterrupted step-free route through works.

- A short out-and-back with a food stop is often enough. Supervise near roads and harbour edges and shorten the walk if wind makes it uncomfortable.
