PORTHCAWL GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

A booked beginner surf lesson at Rest Bay / PORTHCAWL

Porthcawl Surf School

Book a coached lesson when you want to try surfing with instruction rather than simply hire a board and hope for the best. Porthcawl Surf School operates from Rest Bay Watersports Centre, with beginner sessions covering beach awareness and techniques before practice in the water. Leave time for getting equipped, changing and warming up afterwards.

Tickets and booking
Advance booking is recommended. Beginner lessons include tuition, a wetsuit and surfboard under the current offer; confirm equipment, arrival instructions, conditions and cancellation terms.
Access and getting around
Discuss individual needs and the beach-to-water route with the school before booking. General access to the watersports centre does not establish that every surf lesson is suitable for every participant.

Visiting with children
Lessons are for ages seven and above under the operator’s terms. Ask about the right session for the child’s experience and confidence; younger siblings need their own shore-based supervision.
