Porthmadog harbour and the Cob
Spend time beside the harbour, then choose a short section of the public route towards the Cob for a different view of the town and estuary. The relationship between shipping and the narrow-gauge railway becomes easier to understand here. This is a flexible outdoor pause rather than a requirement to complete a long circular walk.
Before you go
Stay on the signed public route and keep railway land separate from the walking path. Turn back when you have had enough; you do not need to cross the whole embankment.

- No attraction ticket is needed for public walking. Parking, refreshments, museum admission and train rides are separate costs. The full Porthmadog circular walk is a much longer outing and is not implied by this short stop.
- Access and getting around
- Expect exposed stretches, crossings and changing surfaces. Check the current Wales Coast Path map and notices; this short suggestion is not a verified step-free circuit. Stay away from water edges and railway tracks.

- Watch boats and trains from public places with close supervision beside water and roads. The harbour is working space, not a fenced play area; choose a short out-and-back section that leaves energy for the return.
