A shorter train ride with a hands-on museum / PORTHMADOG
Take a short railway trip with a stop at the covered heritage centre at Gelert’s Farm. This volunteer-run attraction makes a useful alternative for visitors who want to get close to railway exhibits without spending several hours on a longer route. The museum stop is an important part of the outing, not just a wait for the train home.

Go to the separate WHHR station on Tremadog Road, opposite the main-line station. This is not Harbour Station or the long Welsh Highland journey to Caernarfon.
Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.
Allow 1–1½ hours for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
