Ramore Head and harbour walk

Follow the seafront from Portrush harbour around Ramore Head for views of the Atlantic and the town’s rocky edge. The short town-based section links naturally with Bath Road and the Coastal Zone, rather than requiring a full Causeway Coast Way day. Return through the streets when you have had enough of the wind.

Choose a fair-weather window and use the established route. Steps above the harbour and exposed sections make this a different walk from staying on the West Strand promenade.

Tickets and booking: No walking ticket is required. Check current path notices and the weather. This is only the short Portrush section: continuing along East Strand and on to Bushmills is a much longer walk with separate transport and food planning.
Access and getting around: The official walking route starts with steps past the harbour restaurants and continues around the headland. Do not assume a continuous step-free circuit; ask the visitor information centre about a suitable shorter approach and use town streets to avoid unsuitable sections. Coastal paths can be exposed and slippery.

Visiting with children: Supervise closely by the harbour and rocky coastal edge, and keep to paths rather than climbing onto wave-washed rocks. Choose a short out-and-back or the promenade if young children tire or the wind makes the headland uncomfortable.
