Ripon Courthouse Museum

Consider the stories of people brought before the court and how their sentences were decided. The preserved courtroom makes the roles of judge, jury and accused easier to picture. This is a compact visit close to the cathedral, especially useful after lunch because its general opening starts later than the other museums.

Plan this for the afternoon: the published normal opening is 1–4pm during the 2026 season. Allow time to read the cases and discuss a verdict instead of fitting it into the final few minutes.

Tickets and booking: The Courthouse has individual admission or is included in the all-three-museums pass. Normal 2026 general opening ends on 22 November. Check current opening and any group or event arrangements before arriving.
Access and getting around: There are three entrance steps, narrow routes and different floor levels within the courtroom. One internal doorway is too narrow for wheelchair access. There are no visitor toilets inside; use nearby public facilities and contact the museum about any specific needs.

Visiting with children: Older children may enjoy comparing opinions about the cases and trying the courtroom roles. Crime and sentencing need explanation. A short visit can be enough, particularly after another museum.
