Rye Heritage Centre and Town Model
The Town Model uses light and sound to introduce Rye’s changing fortunes in a roughly 20-minute Story of Rye show. It is a useful starting point before looking for the real streets uphill. Allow extra time for the centre’s general exhibits and shop; the model shows are paid experiences even though the general exhibition area is free to enter.
Book the particular show you want and arrive at least five minutes early. Sound, flashing lights and other effects can be unsuitable for sensitive visitors; discuss these before choosing a performance.

- Book paid model shows through the date-specific calendar. General exhibition entry is free, but does not include a model performance. Opening days and show times vary; check the actual date, including Mondays. Late arrival may mean missing the intended performance.
- Access and getting around
- The shop, arcade and Town Model are on the level ground floor; upper areas have staircase access only. The model accommodates up to two small wheelchairs per performance, so contact the team ahead. Subtitles are available for Story of Rye, with hearing-loop provision listed. Ask about sensory effects and specific access needs.

- Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied. The short Story of Rye can introduce a town walk, but some effects may upset under-fives or sensitive children. The ghost and wartime shows have different content: check suitability separately instead of assuming every programme is a family option.
