Queen Elizabeth Gardens

Use the riverside gardens as breathing space between Salisbury’s indoor visits. There are views towards the cathedral, formal planting and places to pause beside the water, with a children’s play area for a change of pace. A short visit is worthwhile; continuing towards Harnham makes it a different, longer walk.

Stay with an out-and-back garden visit if time or mobility is limited. The council has funded footbridge replacement, so check current routes before relying on a bridge or continuing towards the water meadows.

Tickets and booking: Ordinary garden entry is free and does not require booking. Parking, refreshments and toilets can add costs. Outdoor events and path works may affect the way you use the park.
Access and getting around: The council lists accessible toilets and Changing Places facilities at Lush House; check its facilities page for access arrangements and charges. No surveyed step-free route through every garden path or bridge is promised here.

Visiting with children: The play area gives children a break from sightseeing. Supervise closely beside the river; this recommendation is for the gardens, not swimming. Baby changing facilities are listed at Lush House.
