Shrewsbury Prison

The former prison on The Dana preserves a place where daily routines, punishment and confinement shaped lives. A guided visit explains the wings and cells and the systems that governed them; ordinary Prison Entry lets you explore at your own pace. The history includes segregation and executions, so choose it for a considered look at imprisonment rather than assuming a light-hearted attraction.

Book the guided time before arranging the rest of the day. The tour lasts about 90 minutes and includes Prison Entry, leaving you the option to explore before or afterwards without buying ordinary entry again.

Tickets and booking: Advance booking is strongly recommended for guided tours. Ordinary entry and other activities have different prices and terms; the site is cashless. Under-fives enter free under current terms, and one required carer enters free with evidence. Escape rooms and night events are separate products.
Access and getting around: Traditional stairs connect the landings. The operator reports a working stairlift and accessible toilet, but this does not make every historic area equally accessible. Discuss the specific guided route, stairlift suitability and assistance needs before booking.

Visiting with children: The operator welcomes children, but the guided route addresses punishment and the execution room. Judge that content for your own child; ask staff what can be avoided. Buggies can reach much of the site, with stairs limiting some areas and storage available.
