SOUTHWOLD GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Seaside views and playful machines / SOUTHWOLD

Southwold Pier and amusements

A visit to Southwold Pier can be as simple as looking back towards the beach huts or as lively as choosing a few arcade games. Its separate cafés, shops and amusements give different reasons to linger. The eccentric Under the Pier Show is an additional attraction when operating, rather than something to assume is available whenever the landward arcade opens.

Check the current wind-closure notice as well as opening hours. The operator currently carries a partial-closure notice naming Under the Pier Show, Clockhouse and Seaweed & Salt.

The practical details

Where to find it
North Parade, Southwold IP18 6BN, at the northern end of the main seafront.
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
This record includes paid amusements and optional purchases, not a single all-inclusive ticket. Check each outlet’s current hours and closure notice; food and special activities are separate costs. For a restaurant visit, confirm availability directly.
Access and getting around
The town council’s visitor listing identifies step-free and wheelchair access. Individual games and machines may have their own space and transfer requirements; contact the pier about the experience you want. Exposed decking and weather closures are separate considerations from access to indoor outlets.
Official access information ↗
Visiting with children
Choose a spending limit and a few suitable games rather than trying everything. The arcade can be bright and noisy. Children can enjoy the sea view without every optional activity, and any advertised show or trail needs its own date check.

Practical information checked 15 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day

Allow 45–90 minutes, longer with food for the visit, plus travel and breaks. This is a suggested planning allowance; opening times, access and availability may affect your plans.
