TORQUAY GUIDE Independent ideas for your day out

Miniature gardens / TORQUAY

Babbacombe Model Village

Slow down to look for the small scenes and details in Babbacombe Model Village’s landscaped valley. The attraction combines miniature buildings and figures with planted gardens and some indoor displays. It deserves a proper visit rather than a quick photo stop, and pairs naturally with lunch and a walk on Babbacombe Downs.

Before you go

Most of the visit is outdoors. The indoor displays offer pauses in showers, but they do not turn the garden circuit into a fully indoor rainy-day attraction.

The practical details

Where to find it
Hampton Avenue, Babbacombe, TQ1 3LA
Directions and arrival information ↗
Tickets and booking
Ordinary visitors buy tickets by card at the gate; the operator says no advance online booking is needed. Check the day’s last entry and allow at least two hours. Illuminations run only on selected dates; a general visit does not promise an evening light display.
Access and getting around
Entrance and exit slopes can reach 1-in-4. Manual-wheelchair visits require suitable assistance; mobility vehicles must be capable of the gradients, with wet-surface traction a concern. There is no wheelchair hire or staff pushing assistance. Read the full access page before choosing this outing.

Visiting with children
Look for details together and allow time to rest; the valley walk can be tiring with a pushchair. Refreshments are near the top of the gardens, with toilet points on the route. Keep to paths rather than stepping into model scenes.

Practical information checked 14 September 2026. Confirm anything essential to your visit with the venue.

Make it part of your day
